I’m at the early stages of Les Murmures de la Terre, still exploring materials and techniques through research and experimentation.
I want this project to explore the tension between the visible and the invisible, seeking to make subtle traces of memory and experience perceptible. I place materials at the heart of the work: natural fibers, soy pigments (knowledge acquired through Claire Benn’s course on Take Two) , and textiles inspired by traditional crafts such as embroidery, quilting, and tapestry.
These materials carry both personal and cultural memory, evoking gestures and practices passed down through generations. Techniques like embroidery and quilting, traditionally private, allow me to record and transform experiences, creating surfaces that hold emotion, narrative, and a dialogue with history and the collective.
The creative process is slow, repetitive, and ritualized. Textured linen supports are prepared with natural soy pigments, then worked with stitching, felting, and fabric assembly. Each gesture becomes a mark, a word, an emotion made tangible. Through this process, the work materializes the invisible and transforms memory into a shared, living experience.
Below are a few images of the process and materials.
